The Mercer Art Gallery shop is not only part of the visitor experience and a vital support to the gallery, but is now fast becoming a Destination Store to find inspiring pieces of jewellery, prints and giftware thanks to investment to expand the shop.

The entrance area has had a makeover with a sleek new reception desk and bespoke craftsman-made retail units that have enabled us to increase the size of the gallery shop. Now we can stock more of the sorts of things that people like to find there – greetings cards, artist-made jewellery, prints and ceramics, and unusual gift items. The simple, modular units have been specially made for the Mercer by Yorkshire-based Plaey Workshop whose other clients include The Hepworth Wakefield and Tate St Ives. Plaey work with sustainable birch plywood sourced from a source in Poland and  Valchoramat which is made from 100% recyclable plant fibres.
