What We Do

The Friends of the Mercer Art Gallery play a vital role in supporting the gallery’s ambitions — from funding new art acquisitions to helping to fund exhibitions, education initiatives, and other key areas that help the Mercer thrive.

The Friends run a lively programme of events, including cultural trips, parties, art-themed talks and tours, and invitations to previews at the gallery — all designed to bring people together while raising valuable funds for the gallery and occasionally supporting art projects across the wider Harrogate District, strengthening the town’s cultural life as a whole. Members can also choose to support the gallery’s future through bequests.

With a growing and welcoming membership, the Friends of the Mercer Art Gallery continue to be an important force in celebrating and strengthening Harrogate’s cultural life — and we are always delighted to welcome new members.
